Pay Grade: $17.84-$19.67
Role
The Relationship Specialist (RS) is responsible for providing exceptional member service while developing and strengthening member relationships. They identify member financial needs and recommend appropriate credit union products and services, including deposit accounts, loans, digital banking solutions, and other financial services. The RS supports branch growth through sales, service, and member retention activities.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Sales and Service
- Maintain a thorough working knowledge of products and services. Refer products and services to members and potential members that will assist them in meeting their financial needs/goals.
- Maintain a thorough working knowledge of all retail and digital systems to provide exceptional experience for the members.
- Build relationships with consumers and businesses within the branch footprint.
- Offer creative suggestions to improve services and/or products to members and to improve work efficiency.
- Refer opportunities for home and commercial loans.
Operational Duties
- Open new and service existing consumer accounts including but not limited to, membership, sub-shares, checking, share certificates, IRAs, and debit cards.
- Open and service existing business accounting including but not limited to membership savings, sub-shares, checking, share certificates, and debit cards.
- Process loan applications including but not limited to personal, auto, credit cards and home equities (required to have NMLS # to process home equity applications). Close and disburse loans and refer loan protection products on all loans processed.
- Process member transactions, including but not limited to deposits, payments, withdrawals, transfers, and cash advances. Places proper holds when applicable.
- Provide routine information; eligibility for membership, loan interest rates, current dividend rates, locations, office hours, etc.
- Respond to members’ requests, problems and complaints.
- Balance assigned cash drawer daily and adhere to cash handling and teller balancing procedures.
Other
- Ensure confidentiality of all information and transactions regarding the credit union, its members and employees are held to the highest level of business ethics.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the office of Foreign Assets Control.
- Attend and participate in department and corporate meetings.
- Attend and participate in in-house and or off-site training, seminars, workshops, and or conferences.
- Available to work Saturday hours as needed.
- Maybe asked to travel to various branch locations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
Experience
- A minimum of two years of financial experience required.
- Prior lending and member service experience in the financial field is preferred.
- Sales experience required.
Education/ Certifications / Licenses
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Other Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Able to operate a personal computer, telephone, scanner, and copy machine.
- Demonstrate basic skills in Microsoft Office Suite.

The employee will need to lift box[es] of receipt paper and other supplies that may weigh in excess of 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions
Work is performed largely in a pleasant office environment with minimal chance for personal injury and moderate noise level. There may be occasions when the work environment is stressful. Work hours will normally be from Monday through Friday and may change depending upon our needs.
