Booker T. Washington National Monument
U.S. Department of the Interior National Park Service. Booker T. Washington left the Burroughs farm in 1865 at age 9, poor uneducated,and newly freed.When he returned for a visit in 1908, he was a college President. 101 years after he was born,this national monument was established to commemorate his life and works.
